The Italian brand has been in charge of opening the Paris Haute Couture week. Schiaparelli has presented its new spring/summer 2023 collection at le petit palais, where the museum of fine arts of the French capital is located.
Daniel Roseberry has been inspired by Dante’s Inferno for this Haute Couture collection, recalling the poet’s sense of organization with three looks for each of the 9 circles of hell. These are the leopard, the lion and the she-wolf, representing lust, pride and greed, which find form in spectacular creations of imitation taxidermy, built entirely by hand with foam, resin and other artificial materials.
Schiaparelli has shifted the focus from the chest, once its hallmark, to the waist. The garments are fitted, at this height of the body through jackets whose peplum helps to give visual volume to the hips, emphasizing even more the wasp waist. A trend that we are seeing a lot during the fashion weeks.
The chromatic restriction is absolute, only black, white and earth tones are visible. In the long dresses, minimalism also defines Schiaparelli’s designs, with lingerie dresses combined with opera gloves, mermaid neckline creations or mini dresses with rigid stoles surrounding the model. We have even been able to see an ultra elaborate skirt that is not decorated in fabric, but covered with wooden beads.
The corset is making a comeback in Haute Couture for spring summer 2023. We are talking about sculptural pieces, probably the most complex of the collection, which stand above velvet skirts and pencil patterns with thousands of three-dimensional details.
For this great event we have been able to see great known faces such as Italian influencer Chiara Ferragnithe Spanish Rossi de Palma y Alexandra Pereirathe singer Doja Cat or the youngest of the clan Kardashian, Kylie Jennerwho has surprised with the lion dress that has been presented in the parade.
