Chaumet, the prestigious high jewellery house based at 12 Place Vendôme in Paris, has strengthened its ties with Spain through the opening of a new boutique at number 73 on Barcelona’s Passeig de Gràcia. This new opening, following the success of its Madrid establishment in 2019, consolidates the Maison’s presence on the Iberian Peninsula and stands as a contemporary tribute to the historic links that have united Chaumet with Spanish aristocracy, royalty, and the arts for over a century.
The new space, located in the very heart of the Catalan capital’s modernist district, is far more than a traditional boutique: it is a statement of style, where Chaumet’s visual and artistic identity is interwoven with the aesthetics and values of Catalan modernism. From the moment one steps inside, visitors are immersed in an atmosphere where Parisian savoir-faire exists in perfect harmony with organic architecture and local craftsmanship. The artisanal ceramic flooring subtly recalls the naturalistic curves of Gaudí, while an imposing central column with ringed forms evokes the sculptural language of La Pedrera.
The aesthetic experience culminates in a mural fresco by artist Patricia de la Torre, inspired by Gaudí’s mosaics and the designs of the iconic Joséphine collection. In addition, the shop windows facing Carrer de Mallorca reinterpret the honeycomb cell motif characteristic of Chaumet’s Bee collection, reimagined with a sensitivity that resonates with the Catalan architectural language.
Beyond the visual, this new address reaffirms the emotional heritage between Chaumet and Spain. From commissions by Empress Eugénie de Montijo – who lived with her mother at 12 Place Vendôme before becoming a distinguished client – to the tiaras created for royal weddings such as that of King Alfonso XIII, and personal commissions from figures like the Duchess of Alba, Salvador Dalí or Olga Picasso, Chaumet’s history in Spain is woven with illustrious names and unforgettable pieces.
This bond has been enriched over the years through the Maison’s participation in landmark exhibitions, such as the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition, where Chaumet dazzled with its Art Deco tiaras, or the “French Exhibition of Parisian Elegance” held in Madrid in 1917, which captivated Queen Victoria Eugenie.
