La Prairie is expanding its skincare range with Swiss Pristine, a new collection designed for sensitive skin subjected to the stresses of modern life. The range brings together two elements central to the brand’s identity: Swiss nature and scientific research carried out in Switzerland.
The collection is based on research into the skin barrier and how it can be affected by external factors and everyday habits such as pollution, lack of sleep, travel, digital overload and disrupted circadian rhythms. La Prairie groups these factors under the concept of ‘modern fatigue’ and places the repair and strengthening of the skin barrier at the heart of the new range.
Swiss Pristine is built around three main components. The first comes from the Valais Alps in south-western Switzerland, where the company sources glacial minerals. The formula contains calcium, magnesium and potassium, which are microencapsulated in plant-based liposomes to preserve their purity and efficacy until they are applied to the skin.
This naturally sourced component is complemented by HyPower LP52, a patented active ingredient developed by La Prairie’s scientific team in collaboration with HES.SO and ETH Zurich. Derived from a microorganism and obtained through a precision biotechnology process, it is designed to support the skin’s adaptive response to stress factors.
The third element is Exclusive Cellular Complex, one of the key ingredients featured in La Prairie’s skincare ranges. First patented in 1998 and granted a new 20-year patent in 2014, its production involves three laboratories. According to the brand, it helps to protect the skin against external stress factors and supports its natural repair and renewal processes.
A three-step ritual
The new collection comprises Swiss Pristine Essence, Swiss Pristine Serum and Swiss Pristine Cream, designed as a three-step regime to repair and strengthen the skin barrier.
The essence forms the preparatory and balancing step in the routine and brings together the three main components of the collection. The serum targets the six signs that La Prairie associates with healthy-looking skin, including expression lines, pores, redness, smoothness, radiance and even-toned skin. Its lightweight texture melts into the skin on contact.
The cream completes the ritual. With a light texture that is quickly absorbed, it contains Exclusive Cellular Complex, HyPower LP52 and encapsulated Swiss minerals such as magnesium, calcium and potassium.
The formulations of all three products share a light, fresh and fluid application. The collection also features a fragrance inspired by the purity of Swiss glaciers, described by the brand as a subtle, musky veil with a faint scent of skin.
