Santiago Ultramarinos, traditional Spanish cuisine with a modern twist on the banks of the Bernabéu

The menu offers irresistible options that celebrate the art of tapas

Santiago Ultramarinos stands majestically at number one of Madrid’s Sagrados Corazones Square. A striking establishment, which since it opened its doors last June, has managed to consolidate itself as a gastronomic reference point where you can enjoy the fun art of tapas in one of the best areas of Madrid. Its owners, five friends from the area, have sought to fuse tradition and modernity in an informal and welcoming atmosphere, which is always conducive to enjoyment and good times. A new meeting point in the capital, which has been warmly welcomed by the Madrid public in a very short time.

The gastronomic proposal of Santiago Ultramarinos takes us into the fun art of tapas, which takes shape in a magnificent selection of premium preserves and a careful variety of dishes that are always based on top quality ingredients. Reinterpreted classic recipes that change with each season to give prominence to the best seasonal products. Therefore, now and to combat the winter cold, its seasonal menu focuses mainly on those iconic dishes of traditional Spanish cuisine, with a special emphasis on those rich spoon dishes, tasty stews and seductive smoked dishes. Recipes that help to tone the body and that always taste better in the company of its select liquid menu that offers a wide variety of wines by the glass, with which to carry out wonderful pairings, which always contribute to enhance the flavours of each dish.

In addition, the spectacular avant-garde design of the restaurant reinforces its contemporary spirit, offering an ideal space for both informal meals and unforgettable evenings, where you can savour a delicious collection of dishes at reasonable prices.

Our visit to Santiago Ultramarinos began with a delicious appetizer that took the form of an irresistible ensaladilla rusa accompanied by some crunchy artisan peppers. A nice welcoming gesture, which led us to some original gildas de tierra prepared with cecina, goat’s cheese and olives. A surprising snack, which shared the limelight with some daring spicy razor clams that arrived at the table accompanied by an eye-catching cone of chips. An option that is ideal for sharing and which led to its famous Cecilio. A tender brioche bread base topped with sobrasada and melted brie cheese. A successful combination of flavours that we fell in love with with every bite before succumbing to the charms of the sea bass cured in brine with poached egg and potato chips. A curious dish that combines flavours and textures in such a way as to achieve a delicious result that we were able to devour the dish thoroughly. For dessert, we couldn’t resist the temptation to try the creamy cheesecake, which became, without a doubt, the perfect finishing touch to the evening.

Santiago Ultramarinos pays an endearing tribute to quality tapas and Spanish cuisine in a modern and welcoming setting. An ideal destination to enjoy every day of the week at any time thanks to its non-stop cuisine, from which delicious dishes are prepared with options for all tastes.
