After breaking her relationship with Adidas, singer and celebrity Beyoncé has teamed up with Olivier Rousteing, creative director of Balmain, to create a haute couture collection inspired by the artist’s latest album, Renaissance.
The idea for the collection was born in Olivier as he himself has confirmed in Balmain’s press release: “When Beyoncé first released those extraordinary sixteen songs, she mentioned that she hoped they would inspire us all to ‘let our hair down’. Actually, he managed to push me to let go of much more than that. By the time we reached the rentrée – those end-of-summer days when French vacationers return to the real world – I had encouraged myself to outline fifty new silhouettes inspired by the rhythm, spirit and voices of Renaissance“.
Designer and singer have worked hand in hand over the past six months with the Balmain design team and Marni Senofonte, the stylist with whom the artist has been working practically all her life.
They have created a total of 17 haute couture looks of which 16 correspond to the track list ofRenaissance and which strike a balance between Beyoncé ‘s values and Balmain’s more classic codes.
