Madrid is set to welcome a new wellness destination with the arrival of AIRE Ancient Baths at Galería Canalejas. The Spanish firm, which specialises in relaxation experiences inspired by the tradition of ancient baths, has reached an agreement to open its first centre in the capital within the iconic complex situated next to the Puerta del Sol.
The establishment will cover an area of approximately 2,200 square metres and will have a separate entrance at number 12 Calle Alcalá. Its location will see it blend seamlessly into the surroundings shared by the Four Seasons Hotel Madrid and the selection of international brands, dining options and cultural venues at Galería Canalejas.
The project involves an estimated investment of 21.5 million euros and is expected to create around one hundred jobs in the hospitality, wellness and customer service sectors.
The future centre will bring to Madrid the concept that AIRE Ancient Baths is currently developing in cities such as London, New York, Chicago and Copenhagen. Its offering centres on water as the main element and incorporates thermal circuits, massages and body rituals in spaces designed to promote calm and relaxation.
Founded in Seville in 2004, the company has ten locations across Europe and the United States. Its establishments are characterised by their occupation of buildings of architectural and historical significance, which have been restored with the aim of preserving each property’s original identity.
The addition of AIRE Ancient Baths expands Galería Canalejas’ offering beyond fashion, gastronomy and culture, and reinforces the growing presence of wellbeing within the luxury sector. The project reflects a contemporary vision in which rest, privacy and personal care are taking on an increasingly prominent role.
Galería Canalejas emphasises that the partnership is in line with its strategy of bringing in international operators and initiatives linked to innovation and excellence in service. The opening will add a new experience to the architectural ensemble of seven historic buildings that make up the Madrid complex.
With this launch, AIRE Ancient Baths is expanding its international presence, whilst the centre of Madrid gains a new high-end wellness venue in a setting where heritage, hospitality and contemporary lifestyle coexist.
