The Beauty Concept brings together the inspiration of the Japanese forest and Swiss skincare in its festive offering for the hotel’s spa. Two approaches to personal care during the colder months.
As December approaches, Madrid begins to fill with gatherings and celebrations, leaving little time for ourselves between one engagement and the next. Just a few steps from the Prado, the spa at Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid offers a place to pause. Here, The Beauty Concept welcomes winter with two rituals that range from the scents of a Japanese forest to facial care with Swiss skincare, while city life carries on outside.
Its two rituals, Forest Therapy and Swiss Cell Spa, draw on different influences: Japanese nature and Swiss skincare. Both last ninety minutes and are tailored to each guest’s needs, with therapists placing touch and individual attention at the heart of the experience.
Pink pepper, cypress and Ho wood lend their scent to an imagined forest. This evocation accompanies the touch of hands on the body, shaping Forest Therapy, a ritual inspired by the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku. Throughout the session, aromas and hands-on techniques invite guests to focus on their senses, setting December’s preparations aside for a while.

Facial care finds its place in Swiss Cell Spa, where formulas from Swiss brand Cellcosmet are selected according to each skin’s needs. Hydration, radiance and comfort guide the therapists’ work, while textures and gestures create an experience that gives time to what daily routines so often rush.

Beyond the treatment room, water continues this sense of calm. The heated indoor pool, vitality pool, sensory showers and steam room offer further places to linger. Madrid remains close, just a few steps from the Prado, yet amid the water and warmth, it becomes easy to stop thinking about the next appointment. The option to give either ritual as a gift card adds an affectionate dimension to the offering. Perhaps it is a way of telling someone to take the break they keep putting off, of setting aside a moment that belongs entirely to them. Afterwards, it will be time to wrap up warmly and step back outside, where December carries on with its lights and gatherings.
