The Mark takes the US Open into the realm of private experiences with John McEnroe

The Upper East Side hotel presents an experience valued at around £368,000, combining four nights in its Penthouse, access to the tournament’s decisive stages and a private session with one of the greatest figures in tennis history

New York once again takes centre stage on the international tennis calendar with the US Open. Coinciding with the tournament’s decisive matches, The Mark is taking part of the experience beyond the courts with The Mark Grand Slam Extravaganza, a private programme combining accommodation, sport, gastronomy and some of the Upper East Side hotel’s most distinctive hallmarks.

With an original price of $500,000, approximately £368,000, the experience includes a four-night stay at The Mark Penthouse for up to six guests, coinciding with the men’s semi-finals and final. The programme includes six tickets to the men’s semi-finals and a further six for the final, as well as private chauffeur-driven transfers to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

The accommodation is one of the central elements of the experience. Set across the hotel’s top two floors, The Mark Penthouse is conceived during those days as a private residence overlooking Central Park and the Manhattan skyline. Guests will have access to a private Technogym gym and cold-water pool, alongside a personalised dining offering from The Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges and Caviar Kaspia at The Mark.

The stay also includes a private sailing trip around New York aboard The Mark’s 70-foot Herreshoff yacht. Departing from Chelsea Piers, the journey takes in the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty, accompanied by personalised menus and Champagne.

A private session with John McEnroe

Tennis naturally takes centre stage in the programme. Guests will be able to take part in a private session with John McEnroe at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy, sharing the court and receiving personal guidance from the former American tennis player.

The initiative also incorporates an element linked to sporting development. A portion of the proceeds from The Mark Grand Slam Extravaganza will be donated to the academy to support its programmes aimed at helping young athletes gain access to training and development opportunities.

The US Open comes to the Upper East Side

During the championship, The Mark will bring the aesthetics of tennis to different areas of the hotel. From 28 August to 13 September, its distinctive flower cart will host a tournament-inspired installation featuring personalised caps, The Mark tennis balls and a selection of vintage rackets.

Its well-known hot dog cart will also feature a small collection created for the occasion. Personalised tennis balls will be priced at approximately £22, The Mark Tennis Club caps at around £26, and tennis-themed biscuits at approximately £4. The programme will extend to the hotel’s food and beverage offering with US Open-inspired drinks, including a personalised cappuccino bearing The Mark’s signature emblem.

Located on the corner of Madison Avenue and 77th Street, just steps from Central Park, The Mark has built much of its identity around a contemporary interpretation of New York hospitality. Jacques Grange’s design sits alongside the cuisine of Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Caviar Kaspia and other services conceived for an international clientele.

With this new proposal, the hotel brings that philosophy into the sporting arena, transforming one of New York’s major events into the centrepiece of a private stay combining tennis, gastronomy and life in Manhattan.
