Teresa Helbig presented her new “Savage Swans” collection yesterday in Madrid as part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, at a show held at the Teatro Infanta Isabel that marked her return to the catwalk after a two-year absence from the capital.
The collection commemorates the brand’s 30th anniversary and is structured as a journey through the designer’s creative universe, with references to her early days and the codes that have defined her career. The show, conceived as a staged production with a narrative structure, transported the audience to an imaginary world linked to the theatre and Helbig’s personal memories.
The creative starting point draws inspiration from Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale “The Wild Swans”, which serves as the central theme of a collection in which the brand’s symbolic elements and recurring motifs take centre stage.
The garments combine artisanal techniques with a wide variety of materials and textures, ranging from tulle and gauze to embroidery and pieces crafted from satin ribbons. The collection features silhouettes that evolve throughout the show, in a chromatic journey that moves from dark tones to lighter shades.
Feathers, a recurring element in the designer’s universe, take centre stage in this collection as a nod to her early designs and as a symbol within the collection’s narrative.
The show brought together figures from the cultural and social spheres and marked the close of the first day of the Madrid fashion week, cementing Helbig’s return to the official calendar after having presented in other international cities in previous seasons.
