Tadao Ando designs collection to pay tribute to Karl Lagerfeld

Andrew Bolton, Wendy Yu curator in charge of the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York will present his latest exhibition, “Karl Lagerfeld : A Line of Beauty,” to coincide with the fashion event of the year: the Met Gala 2023.

The exhibition, which will open on May 5 and run through July 16, is not just a simple journey through the designer’s life. This exhibition, focuses primarily on the numerous and arguably incomparable sketches that Lagerfeld created and that inspired Bolton after seeing a video of Karl drawing at Lagerfeld’s funeral.

The couturier’s look will certainly captivate fashionistas, but it will also inspire architecture lovers thanks to the design of the exhibition, the work of Japanese architect Tadao Ando.

Lagerfeld’s works in the exhibition are classified according to the type of lines they represent and exemplify, grouped together to highlight these contrasts, or dualities. That is why the architect Tadao Ando, reinforces the union of these seemingly disparate geometric elements.
