New Porsche 911 GT3 R rennsport: exclusive design and better performance

The 911 GT3 R rennsport, with an output of 620 hp (456 kW), is based on the new 911 GT3 R of the current 992 generation. This limited edition is the result of a specific design and technically benefits from not being subject to competition regulations. It is on display at the Californian track from September 28 to October 1, in an event that is expected to be attended by more than 80,000 fans.

One of the special features of this unique collector’s item, limited to 77 units, is its self-styled bodywork. The Porsche 911 GT3 R rennsport combines the powerful appearance of a high-performance racing car with modern design elements. At the same time, it recalls the history of the sports car manufacturer without drifting into a retro look. The main performance factors of the original GT3, such as air resistance and downforce, remain virtually unchanged. As a racing car, the 911 GT3 R rennsport line remains functional, but also very attractive and emotional.

“The new Porsche 911 GT3 R rennsport offers the experience of driving a racing car based on the car in the purest form,” emphasizes Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President Porsche Motorsport. “It gives you goosebumps every time you look at it and combines the best racing technology with a typical Porsche design language. With its exceptional performance, the 911 GT3 R rennsport makes the history of our brand tangible and audible. It is only fitting that we present it to the greater Porsche community at the Rennsport Reunion 7 at Laguna Seca. This is an exclusive offer for our customers, which really only knows one limit: the 77-unit edition.”

This extraordinary sports car was designed by Grant Larson and Thorsten Klein of the Style Porsche team. “The 911 GT3 R rennsport will take its place as the logical successor to the modern Porsche 935. While the 935 was based on the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport, a close-to-series model, the 911 GT3 R rennsport starts from the current 911 GT3 R of the 992 generation. Under the extensively redesigned carbon skin hides a pure-bred racing car,” Larson emphasizes. The American was Director of Special Projects at Style Porsche for 14 years. Now, together with Thorsten Klein, he is responsible for the individual and unique vehicles of Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. Thorsten Klein adds: “We have given the limited edition model a little more width and length, while reducing its ground clearance. It also stands out with attractively designed wheels. All this gives it perfect proportions and an even more spectacular appearance.”
