Isabel Sanchis incorporates her lighting design into Madrid’s Christmas illuminations

The designer is participating in the city's official lighting display with a fir tree installed in Plaza de San Juan de la Cruz, as part of a collaboration between Madrid City Council and ACME

This year, Madrid is incorporating a new creative proposal into its Christmas lighting. Designer Isabel Sanchis is participating in the set of installations that the City Council is presenting in collaboration with the Spanish Fashion Creators Association (ACME). Her design has been part of the urban landscape since 22 November, the date of the official lighting ceremony.

Sanchis’ contribution takes the form of a luminous fir tree located in the Plaza de San Juan de la Cruz. The piece is constructed from geometric elements and metal spheres that refer to traditional motifs. Inside, it incorporates symbols linked to the Christmas season and references to the field of design, with the aim of projecting Madrid’s relationship with fashion. ‘It has been a real honour for us to design this tree. We hope that all the love and passion we have put into this work will be conveyed to everyone who can enjoy its light,’ says the designer.

Collaboration is part of Sanchis’s track record, whose work is presented at international trade fairs and events such as Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week and various showrooms in Paris. The firm has its own workshop in Benaguasil and is pursuing an expansion strategy through national and international points of sale and an e-commerce platform.

Isabel Sanchis began her professional career in Valencia and established a brand based on in-house manufacturing techniques and the production of pieces close to the realm of haute couture. Her career has been recognised with various awards from institutions and events in the sector.

With the installation of the fir tree, Madrid adds a new creative proposal to its Christmas campaign, a period when the city sees a high volume of residents and visitors.
