Hublot is expanding its Big Bang collection with the launch of the Big Bang Sapphire Sky Blue, a limited edition of 100 pieces that combines a sky-blue sapphire crystal case with the in-house Meca-10 calibre. The new model joins the brand’s catalogue as a fresh interpretation of its work with transparent materials and skeletonised movements.
The timepiece is built around a 44-millimetre case crafted entirely from polished sapphire crystal, a material whose complexity of machining has established Hublot as one of its leading developers within the world of fine watchmaking. The design is completed by a bezel secured with the brand’s signature H-shaped titanium screws and a textured sky-blue rubber strap, in keeping with the watch’s monochromatic aesthetic.
The technical highlight is the HUB1201 Meca-10 calibre, a hand-wound movement comprising 223 components and designed with a fully skeletonised architecture. Inspired by mechanical engineering systems, the mechanism offers a 10-day power reserve, powered by two parallel barrels, and incorporates a rack-and-pinion system that visibly displays the progression of the power reserve – one of the hallmarks of this collection since its launch in 2016.
Since the launch of the first Big Bang Sapphire, Hublot has developed various applications for sapphire crystal, exploring both its transparency and new shades. With the Sapphire Sky Blue, the manufacture continues this line of material research through a finish that evokes the hues of a summer sky without altering the optical properties of the sapphire.
The launch of this model coincides with the consolidation of the brand’s strategy centred on the so-called Art of Fusion, a concept that defines the combination of materials, technical innovation and design which has characterised the Big Bang collection since its launch in 2005. The brand also notes that watches purchased from 2026 onwards are eligible for the 5+5 warranty programme, which extends coverage to a maximum of ten years for timepieces that meet the established criteria.
The Big Bang Sapphire Sky Blue will be available in a limited edition of 100 pieces, through selected retailers and Hublot’s digital platform. Its recommended retail price is 82,700 euros.
