The Gary Nader Art Centre closes the exhibition ‘Picasso to Botero’ in Miami

The exhibition traced the history of Latin American art from Picasso to Botero and brought together historical and contemporary figures.

The Gary Nader Art Centre has closed the exhibition ‘Picasso to Botero’, which established itself as one of the city’s major cultural projects of the season.

Conceived as a journey through modern and contemporary art from a Latin American perspective, the exhibition began with a dialogue between Pablo Picasso and Fernando Botero, integrating works by artists that reflect the evolution, international projection and consolidation of art in the region.

The tour included figures from modernism and abstraction such as Amelia Peláez, Joaquín Torres-García and Emilio Pettoruti, alongside leading figures in Latin American art such as Wifredo Lam, Rufino Tamayo, Diego Rivera and Fernando de Szyszlo.

The exhibition also featured contemporary artists who have continued this legacy, including Carlos Cruz-Diez, Jesús Rafael Soto, Guillermo Kuitca, Vik Muniz, and Oswaldo Vigas.

In addition to its artistic dimension, the exhibition reinforced the centre’s approach of offering museum-quality exhibitions in a setting open to the public, facilitating access to important works of modern and contemporary art.

With the closing of ‘Picasso to Botero,’ the Gary Nader Art Centre reaffirms its commitment to the cultural development of Miami and the international promotion of Latin American art, within a programme focused on the dialogue between tradition and contemporary creation.

Located in the Wynwood arts district, the centre houses a private collection of more than 2,000 works from the 20th and 21st centuries and develops a regular programme of solo and group exhibitions. Founded in 1985 by Gary Nader, the space has established itself as one of the main references in the city’s art scene.
