Chaumet. Regards de photographes celebrates the connection between jewellery and photography

Published by Citadelles & Mazenod, with two collectible covers, it will be available in bookstores on 5 November 2024

Maison Chaumet has launched a new work that reaffirms its connection with the art of photography. Titled Chaumet. Regards de photographes, this book is a celebration of the close ties the house has maintained with photography throughout its history, and it will be available in bookstores from 5 November 2024, under the Citadelles & Mazenod publishing imprint. This special edition will feature two collectible covers, a detail that makes this work even more desirable for art and jewellery enthusiasts.

True to its avant-garde spirit, Chaumet has harnessed the power of imagery to highlight its creations throughout its centenary journey. Now, this fascination with photography has been encapsulated in a volume that offers, for the first time, a visual retrospective of the most emblematic pieces of the Maison, through the lenses of renowned photographers such as Henry Clarke, Guy Bourdin, Bettina Rheims, and Richard Burbridge, among others.

In addition to historical works, Chaumet. Regards de photographes includes some of the Maison’s most iconic commissions in a vibrant portfolio. Among the standout series, two have been created specifically for this edition, captured with great mastery by Karim Sadli and Elizaveta Porodina, who bring a contemporary and artistic perspective that redefines how Chaumet’s jewellery is perceived.

As a final touch, the book offers an anthology of precious glass plates dating from the early 20th century, a collection that pays homage to the origins of photography in the Maison and underscores the importance of imagery in the evolution of its style.

This visual journey is accompanied by texts from three renowned experts in the field of photography: Carol Woolton, Sylvie Lécallier, and Flora Triebel. Their reflections and insights weave throughout the book, offering a profound look at how Chaumet’s jewellery has been captured in new lights, revealing details that only photography can highlight.

Overall, Chaumet. Regards de photographes is not just a tribute to jewellery but also to photography itself, as an art form that has served to immortalise the beauty and precision of the creations from a Maison that continues to be a benchmark in high jewellery worldwide.
