The IWC Schaffhausen watches from the Polaris Dawn mission conquer space

The crew of the Polaris Dawn mission has made history not only in space exploration but also in the world of haute horlogerie, wearing a unique timepiece: the IWC Pilot’s Chronograph Edition “Polaris Dawn” (Ref. IW389111), a watch that has travelled beyond Earth’s boundaries.

During the five days the crew spent in space, led by Jared Isaacman and joined by Scott “Kidd” Poteet, Sarah Gillis, and Anna Menon, they conducted vital scientific research aimed at improving health on Earth and in future space flights. Additionally, they achieved an unprecedented feat: the first-ever commercial spacewalk in history.

The four crew members, Jared Isaacman, Scott “Kidd” Poteet, Sarah Gillis, and Anna Menon, have returned to Earth today.

Each crew member wore a customised IWC Pilot with their name, a symbol of distinction that will soon be available to collectors. This year, the watches that accompanied the astronauts will be auctioned to raise funds in support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Masterpieces of Swiss haute horlogerie and witnesses to humanity’s ability to dream and transcend boundaries.
