Discover Ferragamo’s Pre-Spring 2025 collection

Maximilian Davis revives the elegance of the '70s with a contemporary twist in this new collection

For the Pre-Spring 2025 collection, Maximilian Davis revisits Ferragamo’s archives to capture the spirit of the late ’70s, reinterpreting it through his contemporary perspective. Inspired by the brand’s collections from that era and images reflecting an elegant yet simple lifestyle, Davis has reinvented the fundamental essence of Ferragamo’s wardrobe. “I wanted to bring that reality to the entire collection,” explains Davis, “but with a sense of ’70s ease and glamour.”

As a result, the sensuality that marked that era, and which has become a key code of Davis’s Ferragamo, is subtly but pervasively manifested through lush silhouettes and fluid fabrics; sequins, flocked denim, and draped silks. Batwing minidresses in viscose and thigh-hugging tailoring showcase Ferragamo’s unmistakable confidence, while shiny kitten heels, mules, and feather adornments with a boudoir touch add a fetishistic charm. Second-skin booties and snake-print designs amplify that energy.

“But the ’70s have two sides: something seedy and sexy on one side, but also something pure and elegant on the other,” continues Davis. Scarf dresses are made in patchwork with prints evoking memories of textures, alongside distorted representations of floral motifs that exude dreamy nostalgia. The tailoring silhouette of Ferragamo, with strong shoulders and a narrow waist, is crafted in coated cotton or raffia. Both men’s and women’s clothing feature loafers noted for their elegant sobriety. The iconic Hug bag is redesigned for greater functionality; its single handle and supple leather result in a soft structure. Additionally, the introduction of a new clutch, inspired by the draping of scarves, is crafted in extremely soft leather.

Throughout the collection, the ongoing and essential language of modern Ferragamo is refined and reaffirmed: exquisite elegance of refined minimalism, imbued with intriguing details and meticulous craftsmanship. “I think about how people want to invest and the combination of the wardrobe,” says Davis. Bold injections of color, adopted from a historical Ferragamo palette, reflect this consideration: fuchsia and burgundy, with flashes of Ferragamo red visible inside the Hug bag or in discreet red stitching. “We wanted to play with color to excite and energize the everyday,” he says. “I’m interested in playing with classicism and the classic way of dressing, which I find very Italian.”
