Zen Pozuelo, the best destination to travel to the origins of the Zen Group

Elegant. Seductive. Exotic. As soon as we crossed the threshold of Zen Pozuelo we started our unforgettable adventure to the enigmatic imperial China. A charming restaurant located in the Madrid town of Pozuelo de Alarcón, which is where the renowned Grupo Zen started its activity.

Zen Pozuelo opened its doors in 1997, becoming one of the first quality Chinese restaurants in our country. Its creator, the charming entrepreneur of Chinese origin Roger Chen, experienced first-hand the difficulties of a new opening in the restaurant business. After a difficult start, in which Chen suffered the desperation of waiting stoically for his first customers to come in, Zen Pozuelo began to make a name for itself and to gain a loyal clientele, which encouraged its creator to continue growing. The Zen Group currently has nine restaurants, and will soon surprise us with new openings, which are the result of many hours of work and large doses of passion for the hotel and catering business. A complicated and competitive sector in which a job well done is not always synonymous with success.

Eager to discover first-hand the new image of Zen Pozuelo, we went and were intoxicated by its seductive menu. Our visit started with the delicious Sichuan pork and pork dumplings with chilli sauce. A sublime recipe with just the right amount of spiciness, which led us to his flavoursome spicy soup. A typical Sichuan recipe made with chicken and shitake mushrooms, absolutely delicious.

We continue with a formidable steamed wild sea bass prepared with ginger and spring onions, accompanied by a delicate supreme soy sauce. An elegant, healthy and light preparation, which gave way to their famous lacquered duck, presented with its crispy skin in thin slices, and which we accompanied with their exquisite homemade dumplings with Hoisin sauce, shredded leek and cucumber. A sensational snack that helps us to savour the genuine essence of Chinese cuisine.

To finish, nothing better than their dessert, two chocolates with vanilla ice cream. The perfect finishing touch for those with a sweet tooth. Delicious!
