IQ Collection dazzles with its new “Negro Azabache” collection for the spring-summer 2024 season. Inspired by the iconic musical ‘Jet Black’ from the 1992 Universal Exposition in Seville.
“Azabache” was a spectacle starring Rocío Jurado, Imperio Argentina, Juanita Reina, Nati Mistral, and María Vidal about the life of ‘copla’; it was a vindication, valuation, and universal projection of our great musical heritage in the voices of five unique women.
Reviving the essence of Seville in the nineties, IQ Collection presents a unique capsule that captures the elegance of the era. The garments in this collection are distinguished by their well-defined and structured silhouettes at the shoulders, as well as the classic asymmetrical cuts that are a signature of the brand. Details like contrasting trim, carefully crafted, add an architectural touch to the pieces. Emphasis on the shoulders and neckline openings adds a sensual touch, while pencil skirts complete the look with sophistication.
Unique event at the April Fair
The presentation of these eleven looks was quite an event on the “albero” of the April Fair, in a truly unique setting. Amidst the traditional “casetas,” lanterns, and light bulbs, guests were immersed in an exclusive presentation where the Red Cross Band performed the most emblematic melodies from the musical “Azabache”; pasodobles such as “Suspiros de España,” coplas, and old Sevillanas merged with IQ Collection’s proposals, captivating all present.
“It’s the first time a brand has presented its collection at the April Fair. In the Real de la Feria, all the circumstances of Andalusian traditions come together; here, the color and light of the south are present, along with horses and flounces, polka dots and embroideries, the ‘albero’ color… super inspiring elements that have accompanied IQ since its origins; it’s that South that has always been part of IQ’s DNA,” says businesswoman and designer Inés Domecq.
After the presentation, the traditional “pescaíto” dinner took place, marking the beginning of the Seville Fair each year. In a “casetas” decorated for the occasion with elements from IQ Home Collection, guests were impressed by the magnificent ambiance, where orange trees laden with blossoms and lattice screens full of “clavellinas” coexisted harmoniously with picturesque paintings and old fair posters.
The “casetas” were carefully curated down to the last detail, including dressing tables and bathrooms personalized by Renova. The multinational paper brand took care of the backstage decoration, drawing inspiration from Andalusia with a classic view of Seville as a tapestry on the exterior and a design of Triana tiles adorning every interior space.
The looks were complemented with sandals from Inés Domecq Shoes by Cuplé, combs, mantillas, and “madroñeras” from Antigüedades Bastilippo, as well as hairstyles and makeup from Kérastase x Victor del Valle.
This capsule collection will be available for sale at EL CORTE INGLÉS in Madrid (Serrano and Pozuelo) and Seville (Duque), at the flagship store of IQ Collection at (C/Jorge Manrique, 11. Madrid), on www.theiqcollection.com, and at the brand’s points of sale.
