It is the most important fashion event in the world. The gala takes place every first Monday in May and precedes the exhibition on display at the MET Museum in New York. The theme of the exhibition can sit on a theme in general, such as Punk in 2013 or on a particular figure, as in this edition, where Karl Lagerfeld will be the absolute protagonist.
The exhibition is called Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, following the theory of aesthetics described by William Hogarth in his 1753 book Analysis of Beauty. The exhibition, which precedes the Met Gala 2023, will analyze the relationship between the designer’s sketches and his finished creations throughout his long career. In the rooms of the museum will be about 150 pieces from the five firms that Lagerfeld worked for: Balmain, Patou, Chloé, Fendi and Chanel, in addition to his own eponymous brand.
The Met Gala 2023 dress code will be “in honor of Karl”. The Met Gala is held at the Metropolitan Museum in New York. The red carpet will take place there first, followed by the dinner, which will be held in the Dendur temple, the Egyptian monument that houses the New York center.
