Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, the prestigious luxury chain renowned for its unforgettable experiences, announces the launch of “Flavours of Shangri-La,” a culinary festival set to delight the most discerning palates. This event, running from 1st to 30th October 2024, will feature a curated selection of hotels across the Middle East, Europe, the United Kingdom, India, the Indian Ocean, and the Americas.
Throughout October, guests and visitors will have the opportunity to embark on a gastronomic journey through tasting menus and iconic dishes, carefully crafted by the world-renowned chefs who helm Shangri-La’s kitchens. With prices starting from just 109 AED (28 euros), the festival is an invitation to explore the rich diversity and culinary innovation that define each of the group’s destinations.
Among the participating hotels are architectural gems like Shangri-La Dubai, the majestic Shangri-La Bosphorus in Istanbul, the elegant Shangri-La Paris, and the iconic Shangri-La The Shard in London. Other notable destinations include Shangri-La Qaryat Al Berri in Abu Dhabi, Shangri-La Jeddah, Shangri-La New Delhi, Shangri-La Bangalore, as well as Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah and Shangri-La Al Husn in Muscat.
Diners will be able to indulge in culinary excellence at acclaimed restaurants such as Hoi An, Shang Palace, IST TOO, La Bauhinia, Niyyali, Sorrento, TĪNG, Caprese, Ssaffron, Yataii, Capri Court, Chow Mee, Bait Al Bahr, Sultanah, and Aangan by Rohit Ghai. Each establishment will offer a unique experience that encapsulates the luxury and sophistication synonymous with the Shangri-La brand.
A highlight of this festival is the participation of Chef Pâtissier Maxence Barbot from Shangri-La Paris. Renowned for his sublime creations that blend art with classical patisserie techniques, Barbot will delight guests with exquisite French pastries that reflect the essence of haute cuisine in Paris.
Meanwhile, in the United Arab Emirates, gourmets will have the unique opportunity to savour authentic Sichuan cuisine crafted by Chef Benson Peng, the Head Chef of Sichuan cuisine at Shangri-La Hotel Chengdu. Renowned for his mastery in balancing the seven signature flavours of Sichuan cuisine, Peng has become a revered figure in the culinary world. He will be showcasing his talents at Shangri-La Dubai from 5th to 13th October and at Shangri-La Abu Dhabi from 13th to 21st October. Among the dishes he will present is the stewed Mandarin fish with mixed vegetables and mushrooms in spicy chilli oil, a culinary masterpiece infused with authentic Sichuan spices that promises to be a sensory experience.
The culinary offerings extend across an impressive range of premium restaurants at Shangri-La destinations, each showcasing menus that encapsulate the best of local and international cuisines. At Shangri-La Dubai, the renowned Shang Palace will delight diners with a four-course menu that highlights the richness of Cantonese cuisine, featuring delicacies such as red rice rolls with shrimp and stir-fried grouper fillet with walnuts and lemon pepper sauce. Hoi An, also in Dubai, will take diners on a journey through the vibrant flavours of Vietnam, with dishes like pomelo salad with lobster and wagyu with pepper and black pepper sauce.
In Abu Dhabi, the elegant Bord Eau will present a refined four-course menu that fuses the best of modern French cuisine, featuring dishes such as sea bass ceviche with citrus and guava, and slow-cooked farm chicken breast with peanut sauce. In London, the TĪNG restaurant at Shangri-La The Shard will offer a sophisticated tasting menu inspired by local British ingredients, with standout creations like glazed duck breast with shiitake mushrooms and coconut jus.
The experience in Paris promises to be equally memorable, with La Bauhinia offering a luxurious tasting menu that includes lobster ravioli with bisque and minestrone, while Shang Palace will entice guests with a seven-course summer tasting menu that blends the best of Cantonese cuisine with a Parisian twist, featuring dishes like BBQ aubergine with pepper sauce.
At Shangri-La Bosphorus in Istanbul, IST TOO will celebrate the rich culinary traditions of the region with a tasting menu that includes aromatic frutti di mare risotto with squid ink and adana kebab with aubergine and tomato. Shang Palace in Istanbul will also showcase its culinary excellence with a special menu featuring the iconic whole roasted Peking duck and wok-fried lamb chops with fresh chilli.
