Nolinski Venice opens the doors to its library bar, featuring over 4,000 books and signature cocktails

A refuge for literature lovers, just steps away from St. Mark's Square

This winter, literature lovers have an appointment at Nolinski Venice. Located just minutes from St. Mark’s Square, this oasis of luxury and sophistication emerges as a preferred destination for culture enthusiasts. In addition to the carefully curated selection of ancient and contemporary works that adorn every corner, the third floor of this hotel hides the best-kept secret of La Serenissima: an exclusive library bar with over 4,000 volumes spread across 6 meters of shelves.

This spectacular space houses an extensive variety of books, carefully selected by Anatole Desachy, who aimed to create a “unique and eclectic library, built from books that people might have collected from museums and antiquaries during their travels.” As a result, half of the collection focuses on art books—covering topics such as the history of Venice, the Renaissance, the Biennale, the Peggy Guggenheim collection, and Murano glass art—along with Italian photography, design, and fashion. The other half is dedicated to literature in Italian, English, and French, with an emphasis on travel writing. Additionally, the collection includes works from major Italian art publishers, a private collection of auction catalogues from Christie’s and Sotheby’s, and books on music.

In fact, music plays a fundamental role in this special library. The library bar at Nolinski features its own grand piano, whose melodies immerse visitors in an atmosphere of calm and warmth.

A place that combines literature, music, and visual arts, captivating all the senses. Indeed, in addition to engaging the ear, the library bar at Nolinski is a true delight for the eyes; not only because of the thousands of books it holds but also due to the art pieces adorning its walls and ceiling, decorated by an impressive fresco by artist Simon Buret.

Taste is also indulged in this hidden corner of Venice, as the library bar features a menu of exquisite cocktails and mocktails designed by Jérémy Bacquet, the creative director of the Evok group’s bars.

From classic drinks like the well-known Negroni Sbagliato to house specialties such as the Mazzorbo (with mezcal, Montenegro, and amaro bianco) or the Vignole (gin, chamomile infusion, red fruits, and lime juice), the menu offers more than 20 creations to choose from, in addition to classic alcoholic beverages (whiskey, rum, gin, vodka, etc.), soft drinks, juices, and coffee. Furthermore, for those looking to accompany their drinks, the menu includes a selection of typical Italian bites, highlighting tramezzini and focaccias.

However, the true charm of the library bar lies in its decoration, where every detail tells a story. Designed by Le Coadic & Scotto, the round tables, adorned with fresh flowers and surrounded by velvet armchairs, invite guests to sit back and immerse themselves in the tranquility of the space while devouring a good book, enjoying live music, or sampling some of the creations from the menu.
