Traveling to Italy through the palate is what Il Posto’s three restaurants in Madrid make us do. Il Posto di Bravo, Il Posto di Conde, and finally Il Posto di Principe. A beautiful project that began its journey in the capital in January 2023 and has managed to open three successful locations in record time.
On this occasion, we will focus on their latest opening, a charming venue located in the Chamartín neighborhood, specifically at 126 Príncipe de Vergara Street in Madrid. Evidently, its location has much to do with its name: Il Posto di Principe.
A beautiful venue with large windows that fill the space with pleasant natural light, complemented by a charming street-level terrace where we can enjoy those delicious nonna recipes almost all year round.
Their menu offers delights freshly arrived from Italy. The finest ingredients, specially brought from our neighboring country, allow Chef Ricardo Fiore, who left his native Puglia, to delight us with the best cuisine of his homeland.
Upon arriving at Il Posto di Principe, we find a casual, cozy, and always lively place. A perfect meeting point to enjoy those unmistakable flavors of Italy with friends or family.
During our visit to Il Posto di Principe, we began by savoring a house appetizer of Parmesan, mortadella, and crispy breadsticks. A nice gesture that we fully enjoyed while examining their appetizing menu. Finally, from the starters, we opted to share the original fiori di zucchina, delicious tempura zucchini flowers stuffed with ricotta and served with a seductive basil pesto. A great start that led us to an exquisite insalata di burrata di Puglia accompanied by arugula and cherry tomatoes. A light and fresh recipe, ideal for this time of year.
From the pizzas, we chose to try the Diavola pizza, made with spicy spianata di Calabria, nduja, and basil. The most ardent spice lovers can request their spicy oil for an extra punch.
Before moving on to dessert, we succumbed to their exceptional spaghetti carbonara, finished tableside with egg yolk, freshly grated pecorino, and topped with very crispy fried guanciale. A dish that will make us return soon to Il Posto, as it is one of the best carbonaras we’ve tried lately.
For dessert, we were intrigued by the Zabaglione with red fruits. An egg cream, marsala, and a base of berries. A sweet ending that isn’t cloying, thanks to the freshness of the red fruits. Undoubtedly, a perfect final touch to our evening with the authentic taste of Italy.
Il Posto di Principe, a must-visit for all lovers of genuine Italian cuisine. An unforgettable journey through the different regions of our neighboring country, starting with a seductive menu that includes options for all tastes, along with their famous tiramisu. Can you resist?
