Genesis Middle East & Africa unveiled the redesigned G80 luxury sedan in Oman on 16th July, a model that perfectly reflects the delicate balance between tradition and innovation that defines the brand.
To celebrate the regional debut of the renewed G80, the prestigious Korean luxury automobile brand organised an exclusive event in Salalah, Oman, which brought together prominent members of the press. In a venue specially designed for the occasion, attendees enjoyed an immersive experience in a spectacular setting, ideally suited for the launch. The evening featured the presentation of the Royal and Sport versions of the redesigned G80, followed by an elegant gala dinner and performances that added a festive touch to the event.
The G80 has been completely redesigned while staying true to the brand’s “Athletic Elegance” philosophy. New design
The exterior of the G80 stands out with its new dual-mesh design, which enhances the sophistication of the two-line Crest grille, while the iconic two-line headlights, equipped with Micro Lens Array (MLA) technology, underscore the Korean brand’s commitment to integrating advanced technology with elegant design. The 20-inch wheels with a five-double-spoke design add a dynamic aesthetic reminiscent of an aircraft propeller, harmoniously aligning with the car’s parabolic side profile. At the rear, the diffusers with hidden silencers feature a distinctive V-shaped chrome trim, inspired by the Crest grille, reflecting the sedan’s eco-friendly vision in this era of electrification.
Interiors
The interior of the G80 maintains Genesis’s design ethos with its distinctive Korean concept of “the beauty of white space,” combined with cutting-edge technology to create a distinguished atmosphere for users. The 27-inch-wide OLED display seamlessly integrates the instrument cluster and the AVN (Audio, Video, Navigation) screen in a horizontal layout, extending to the central console to enhance its high-tech appeal. The touch-based HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) system provides drivers with easy control, while the redesigned crystal-like Shift By Wire (SBW) controller ensures a comfortable grip and adds a touch of luxury.
G8 Sport
The G80 Sport edition offers a dynamic and sporty appeal with its double-layer Crest grille and enlarged air intakes. Exclusive interior packages include a D-cut steering wheel and carbon fibre detail options, enhancing driving responsiveness. Additionally, the G80 Sport model with the 3.5 turbo engine is equipped with Rear Wheel Steering (RWS), enabling smoother manoeuvrability and increased agility, while the Electronic Limited Slip Differential (E-LSD) ensures stable control during high-speed driving.
The luxury sedan is equipped with a suite of advanced safety features, including Remote Smart Parking Assist 2, Lane Following Assist 2, and a Fingerprint Authentication System. The three-zone HVAC system allows for individual climate control, ensuring a comfortable ride for all passengers. Additionally, it offers two engine options: a 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivering 300 horsepower and 43.0 kgf·m of torque, and a 3.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 375 horsepower and 54.0 kgf·m of torque. Enhanced driving dynamics reduce road noise and improve the overall luxury driving experience.
