CEO & Founder of Love is in the Air, the most exclusive bridal and party fashion space in Madrid, Isabel Ruiz has revolutionised the bridal fashion scene with her innovative vision.
Love is in the Air is the only place in Madrid where you can find looks from the world’s most exclusive designers.
Isabel has turned her passion for fashion into the chicest and most international bridal store, travelling the globe to select the most innovative and coveted collections, and offering cosmopolitan brides unparalleled access to creations by designers such as Zuhair Murad, Galia Lahav, Viktor & Rolf, Elie Saab, and Vivienne Westwood.
Isabel, Love is in the Air stands out for its focus on international brands in a Spanish market that has historically leaned towards firms like Pronovias or Rosa Clará. What inspired you to choose these international designers? What kind of brides come to Love is in the Air?
I have always been involved in the fashion world, and when I got married for the second time eleven years ago, I couldn’t find anything in Spain. I wanted something special from an international designer, but I found nothing. I didn’t want Pronovias or similar brands, nor a bespoke dress. I wanted something different.
My client profile is a bride or guest who loves fashion, luxury, and special things, and who does not like to go unnoticed. She is a woman who enjoys travelling and exclusive experiences.
You offer something truly exclusive in Madrid. What is your business strategy for maintaining this exclusivity, and how do you differentiate yourself in such a competitive market?
I travel frequently, several times a year, to New York, Paris, London, and so on, to view all the collections. I also keep a close eye on Instagram and the internet to stay updated on the most sought-after and desired collections from other countries.
Your relationships with some of the most prominent designers in the bridal fashion world must be fascinating. How do these connections influence the selection of the collections you present at Love is in the Air?
I have a close relationship with many designers, such as Galia, Berta, and Jenny Packham, among others. This helps me a lot in obtaining hard-to-find dresses or acquiring them in record time. They also assist me in selecting the most suitable pieces for my market and clients.
What experience do you offer to brides? What is the process like?
We aim to provide an exclusive experience, with designs that you can only find in our space. We want it to be something different, so we also assist with accessories, accommodation if you’re coming from outside Madrid, select the most exclusive jewellery, and even offer a personalised perfume.
You have introduced the concept of renting into the bridal world in Spain, something revolutionary in our country but common in other markets like the United States and England. What inspired you to bring this service, and how has it been received by your clients?
Renting is very common outside Spain, especially for luxury items. I wanted to be a pioneer and strongly invest in it.
This model helps brides who dream of wearing a haute couture design but cannot afford to buy it. It is very practical and sustainable, and it has been very well received.
We would like to learn more about the exclusive service you offer to international clients who choose Madrid for their bridal shopping. How do you adapt your services and offerings to meet the needs of this global audience?
We have a large international clientele and have adapted to their needs. We assist with accommodation, provide express alterations and adjustments, and ship worldwide. We do whatever is requested and are very flexible.
Finally, looking towards the future, what new projects or goals do you have on the horizon?
I would like to invest heavily in the rental service and also open another location in the south of Spain, in Marbella.
