Last Saturday, Madrid-based artist Miguel Caravaca launched a limited edition of 60 screen prints titled “Joe Cool x Caravaca”, inspired by the famous cartoon character Snoopy. Each piece, measuring 34×34 cm, was created using screen printing on canvas, mounted on a wooden board, and stands out for its use of heat-activated inflatable inks, which add unique textures. The entire series sold out in just 30 minutes, highlighting the strong interest and demand for the prolific artist’s work.
A distinctive style that breaks boundaries
Miguel Caravaca (1979, Madrid) is a key figure in contemporary Spanish art, renowned for his eclectic style that blends ecclesiastical iconography with Hollywood glamour, alongside elements of punk and Greek tragedy. Since his debut in 2017, he has made his mark on the art world with exhibitions in Spain and abroad, solidifying his career through his distinctive use of colour, line, and composition, with clear influences from urban art, Cubism, and Pop art.
Throughout his career, Caravaca has explored a wide range of subjects, from bullfighters and princesses to iconic figures such as Balboa and the Virgin of La Paloma, all under the belief that “art must be more radical than reality.” In addition to his paintings, he has collaborated with prestigious brands like IWC Schaffhausen and created charitable projects for UNICEF and the Global Gift Foundation.
This new series, “Joe Cool x Caravaca”, once again demonstrates the artist’s versatility, combining the iconic Snoopy character with his contemporary vision and unique technique. The use of heat-activated inflatable inks is one of the technical innovations that has allowed him to explore new textures in the artwork, providing a visual and tactile experience that captivates collectors.
