Wittmore Hotel consolidates its role as an active agent in Barcelona’s art scene with the third edition of the Wittmore Prize, an initiative created to give visibility and professional support to emerging artists. As part of its collaboration with the Art Nou festival, this year the hotel recognises the careers of Rose Madone, Jan Vallverd\u00fa and Rom\u00e1n Fabr\u00e9, three creators who will present their exhibition projects in the hotel’s spaces over the coming months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Wittmore Prize combines hospitality with contemporary culture, integrating art into the guest and visitor experience. Each of the award-winning artists will have a solo exhibition at the hotel, lasting approximately three months, as part of a cycle that will run until mid-2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first exhibition, \u2018Ciclo del alma\u2019 (Cycle of the Soul) by Rose Madone (Lille, 1993), will kick off the exhibition calendar. Represented by Escat Gallery, the artist develops a multidisciplinary practice that encompasses painting, ceramics, photography and video. Her work explores processes of personal transformation through materials and textures that evoke life’s evolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This will be followed by \u2018Not Yet\u2019 by Jan Vallverd\u00fa (Barcelona, 1995), presented by Beta Contemporary. His work combines the spontaneous gesture of graffiti with the controlled technique of oil painting, in an exercise of balance between impulse and intention. The series proposes a constant dialogue between the visible and the latent, reflecting waiting as a creative state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The cycle will be completed with Functions, by Rom\u00e1n Fabr\u00e9 (Palma de Mallorca, 1999), represented by Galer\u00eda Alegr\u00eda. His work lies between painting, sculpture and design, based on geometric structures that suggest interactions between form, matter and function. The works dialogue with each other as entities with their own behaviours, inviting the viewer to interpret their own role within the composition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Wittmore Prize is part of the 14th edition of the Art Nou festival, which this year has brought together 58 artists in more than 30 venues in Barcelona and L’Hospitalet. The collaboration with the hotel expands the network for promoting and supporting young art, creating a bridge between the cultural sphere and the hotel sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since its opening, Wittmore Hotel has developed an ongoing cultural programme that includes initiatives such as Projecte 360\u00ba, where the hotel’s courtyard is transformed into a temporary exhibition space for local and international artists.
